Overexposed Blurred Photography Workshop

Dusk Specks are a pain in the … and can ruin an image, they take forever to remove in post processing. During our meeting on December 12th, 2019 – Andriy from the Fredericton Camera Services (https://www.frederictoncamera.com/) will be at our meeting to clean your camera Sensors.

 

To know if you have dust spectacles on your sensor.

Outdoors:  Take a photo at a clear white or blue sky with your F-Stop at 22. Indoors: find a white paper and put  your F-Stop again at 22.  

Zoom in on the image (rear camera LCD), scroll from left to right and top to bottom all over the image and see if you can find any dark spots. Or look at your image on the computer.

 

99% people who change their lenses will have dust specks.

 

This is offered to you at a cost of $10.00 per camera. We have 20 spots available. Starting at 6PM on that day. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR BATTERY FOR YOUR CAMERA FULLY CHARGED in order for him to be able to do this.

Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk

International Event

On the first Saturday of October each year, photographers and enthusiasts around the world get out their cameras and meet up at a designated location in their town to walk and take photographs, socialize, make new friends, win prizes and be a part of a great cause during Scott Kelby's Worldwide Walk. So join us for this year's walk in Downtown Moncton. For more information on the walk and to register, click on the link below:

MOSAÏQ Multicultural Festival

Friday and Saturday July 19 & 20, 2019

We are looking for up to 20 volunteer photographers to cover the various events during the MOSAÏQ Multicultural Festival that will be held in downtown Moncton on July 19 and 20, 2019. If you like cultural or event photography, this is for you, regardless of your level of experience. 

The lead photographer for the event is Stephen R. Conrad who did a presentation on cultural and events photography at one of our meetings in March 2019. 

If interested, please register no later than May 31, 2019. Once registered and when closer to the event date, you will receive an email with a meeting point at the festival.

 

Volunteers will receive a T-shirt so they can be identified as festival photographers.

Photographing Milky Way

HANDS ON : Photographing Milky Way

Don Lewis will be leading a workshop on photographing the Milky Way, followed by a workshop on editing such photos.

There will be two sessions, both sessions are limited to 7 participants each.

  - Thursday July 4th and

  - Saturday July 6th

The photo editing workshop will see the 2 groups combined and will be held at Ivan’s Camera on Monday July 8th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

**We encourage retirees or those on vacation to register for the weekday session to leave spots open on Saturday evening for those working.

Cost: $40, the cost is $20 if you do not attend the editing workshop.

NOTE: The rain date will be Sunday July 7th.

Magnetic Hill Zoo Outing

During the month of March, the zoo is open on Sundays from 11:00 to 3:00 (last entry) and the proceeds will go to the development of future animal habitats. Join us for a fun outing and take pictures of the animals in a wintery environment.

 

On the first Sunday, people were able to take photos of the peccaries, bears, cougars, caribou, rhea, jaguars, tigers to name a few. As a group, we will meet at the main entrance at 12:30. You can bring your tripod if you want. Afterwards, anyone interested in sharing a few of their pictures with the zoo can do so by submitting them to gekkobatman@gmail.com.

Horse Show - Dressage Show

There will be a Dressage Show at PLP. For those who’ve never shot moving targets, this is the a great chance to try. The horses don't move too fast and the ‘patterns’ that are being ridden are clearly defined, so it’s possible to predict where and when the horse/rider pair will do specific things - allowing the photographer to be ready to capture that perfect moment. Cost: free

The Mathieu C Project

The challenge will go from July 15 to August 11, that's 4 weeks.

 

For the challenge, we'll randomly select 7 themes at the beginning of each week (on Sunday evening) and each participant will have to submit a minimum of 5 photos by the next Sunday.

 

All themes will be based on subjects and not techniques making it accessible to all.

End of the year Party - 2019

On June 20th, our "End Of The Year" Party will be at "5 Bridges Grill and Bar" at 121 Pine Glen Rd, Riverview

 

We will start the evening with a "meet and greet" event from 6-7pm.

 

While ordering your favorite refreshments from the bar, Focus is sponsoring a variety of tasty hors d'oeuvres (appetizers) while you are chatting with friends and club members.

 

Around 7pm you will be able to order a meal from the following large group menu 

Moncton Library Photo Exhibit

March 2019

As part of our 50th Anniversary Celebrations, the Focus Camera Club will be holding a Photo Exhibit at the Moncton Library during the month of March 2019.

This is open to all Focus Camera Club members. The first 75 people to register and pay will be in the exhibit.  Images must be 8x12 landscape format.

At the time, only one image per participant is accepted. If there are not 75 participants by January 1st, 2019, then members may have additional images exhibited (same cost for each additional photo(s)).

Cost : Approximately $20.00 (This is for a 8x12 double mat and framed image) At the end of the exhibit the framed images will be given to the photographer)

50th Anniversary Photo Exhibit Souvenir Books will be available for the cost of approximately $25.00

Beginners to Intermediate Digital Camera Workshop

HANDS ON : Learn to use your digital camera - 3 sesssions

This is the full course in a nutshell.  All of the above is supported with plenty of images as examples to learn from.

Blueberry Field Trip

Clarence Nowlan a professional photographer, is again this year, doing his annual Blueberry Fields Trip in the fields around Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. Join Clarence as he leads you through this beautiful area to capture the fields at their best in their fall colors. 

Meeting point in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia at 8:00 am: Tim Horton's parking lot across the Glooscap Monument. You can park at the Museum across from Tim Horton's. 

 

The workshop is from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. 

Lunch will be at the Glooscap Restaurant for those interested.

Annual Christmas Scavenger Hunt

The Annual Christmas Scavenger Hunt will be held this year in Downtown Moncton on Saturday November 23rd starting at 9:30 followed by lunch at a local restaurant. 
 

This is a free event and a great chance to socialize with other members. You can find the list of items to photograph here. 

If you cannot join us in, you can still participate and submit your photos. Photos will be shown at the Christmas party. Deadline to submit photos will be Thursday November 28 at midnight.

Meeting point: 9:30 at Tim's Downtown Moncton

Time: 9:30 to 2:00

Note: All pictures must have been taken between 9:30 am and midnight on Saturday November 23 .

This Evening, will talk about computer basics, and some intermediate techniques about computers.

 

This will talk about, Computer hardware, just simply, understanding what your talking about, and what it means to photographers. Windows, organizing files and folders. Changing names. Making folders, what the heck is a short cut.

And the difference in between. “ WT (heck) “ is the cloud? 500px, FLICKR, Facebook, Instagram, Viewbug, gurushots, woa! Emailing – signs of a scam (its important)

Magnetic Hill Zoo Wild Lights

Join us for a visit to the Magnetic Hill Zoo for this year’s Wild Lights. The zoo will be decked out with thousands of festive lights over its 40 acres. This year, the spotlight is on the wolves.

Image Critique Workshop

What prompted us to make the image in the first place.  Your personal response, taking an internal look at our personnel reasons for creating a photograph.
