OUTINGS 2024-2025
Full Moon Rising Over the Petitcodiac River
October 17, 2024
Focus Camera Club is planning an outing to capture the full moon at Riverfront Park (Moncton) on Thursday October 17, 2024. On this day the sun will be setting, and the moon will be rising at the same time, i.e., 6:30pm (see photo). The moon will rise over the Petitcodiac River, and the objective is to capture the moon as it rises over the horizon (provided that clouds are absent during the event). Equipment required: a tripod as the light will become dim rapidly. A long lens (> 200mm) can be helpful in capturing a larger moon within its surrounding environment. The plan is to meet at Riverfront Park behind the Running Room at 6:15pm (see location on the photo). Please note that we may keep Wednesday night open as an alternate date if Thursday night is overcast (and not Wednesday). You will be notified of any changes on Tuesday of that week.
Autumn Colours in Centennial Park
October 5, 2024
You are invited to an Autumn Colours outing at Centennial Park (Moncton) on Saturday October 5, 2024. This outing will provide photographers with the opportunity to photograph the beauty of the Centennial Park under autumn colors. No specific equipment is needed; however, I personally like to use a polarizing filter when lighting conditions are very bright (to protect the highlights) and also to control the reflection on the surface of the water (see photo). The plan is to meet at the main parking lot (see photo), on Saturday morning at 9am. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Night Photography outing at the Caissie Cape Wharf
August 22, 2024
Time: 7:45 pm Aug 21 (Aug 22 rain date)
Location : meet at Caissie Cape parking lot (see map)
The Focus Camera Club is planning a night photography outing at the Caissie Cape wharf in Grande-Digue where low light photography can be practiced. This outing will provide photographers with the opportunity to try long exposures and other techniques of their choice. Long exposures with low ISO are often used for low light photography, and best results are obtained when conditions are not too windy (to prevent motion blur of boats, for example). As such, a tripod is required for low exposures, so bring your tripod.
The Caissie Cape wharf is located on Chemin du Quai in Grande-Digue about 6.8 km on route 530 from Shediac Bridge (see map for further details). The sunset will occur at 8:15pm on August 21, so meeting at the Caissie Cape wharf parking lot at 7:45pm would be a good time to get to know the wharf and other participants before sunset. If you have never done long exposure photography, Daniel Caissie will be there to assist as will other club members.
The preferred date is Wednesday, August 21, however, if weather conditions are better on August 22, we would select that date (the date of the event will be confirmed on Monday (August 19, 2024), of that week). Both club and non-club members are welcome.
